ABOUT
The GEI: Arts Symposium is a national multi-day gathering of Japanese Canadian artists that took place in Fall 2022. Located at the historic Gorge Park Pavilion in Greater Victoria BC, the event marks the 80th anniversary of the forced uprooting, dispossession, and displacement of almost 22,000 Japanese Canadians living in coastal BC during WWII. The event included, artistic spotlights, workshops, panel discussions, performances, and community conversation. My role was to create a unique visual brand identity design including the event logo, typography and colour palette. I was also commissioned to create printed and digital marketing collateral, as well as the event website.
The GEI: Art Symposium is funded by National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC) Arts, Culture and Education (ACE) Committee, Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives (CAPI) at the University of Victoria, and Canada Council for the Arts.
